India exposes Pakistan at UNHRC, says ‘Terrorists now devouring creator’

Speaking at the United Nations Human Rights Council session in Geneva, Ajit Kumar, India’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to UN claimed that in the last two decades the world’s most wanted terrorists found succor and sustenance in Pakistan. Kumar also said that while Pakistan has created terrorist outfits against India, the ‘monster’is now devouring its creator. Further stating that the fundamental reason for the disruption in different parts of Jammu and Kashmir is the cross-border terrorism aided and abetted by Pakistan, Kumar said that the neighboring country’s unwarranted references to UNSC resolutions are misleading as Pakistan was required to vacate parts of Kashmir under illegal and forced occupation.
The tension between India and Pakistan has escalated since, in a reply to the Uri attacks, the Indian Army carried out surgical strikes across the Line of Control (LoC), destroying several terrorist launch pads. There had been several instances of cross-border firings and terrorist infiltrations within the country by official or unofficial armed forces from Pakistan.
Pakistan has been under tremendous global pressure to eliminate terrorism on its soil and the pressure has increased ever since Donald Trump took over as the President of United States. However, Ashraf said that Trump has been spreading Islamophobia.
Days back, after years of remaining in denial over terror credentials of Hafiz Muhammad Saeed, Pakistan has finally said the international terrorist and Mumbai attacks mastermind is a threat to the country. While addressing an international security conference in Munich on Monday, Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khwaja Asif said, “Saeed can pose a serious threat to the society.” Asif also said that Saeed, who has been listed under an anti-terrorism law, was arrested recently “in the larger interest of the country.”
Action against Saeed has been a long standing demand of India. The terrorist not only masterminded 26/11 attacks in Mumbai but several other attacks in India as well. He is also believed to have been involved in Kashmir unrest last. Following the death of Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Burhan Wani, Saeed had publicly organized a mock funeral for Wani in Pakistan.
