This is likely to happen in the next 3 years. ' The expansion of the 17 Mountain Strike Corps was started in January 2014. This is against China for the first time. Until this, three Strike Corps of Army has been used mainly against Pakistan.

Army Chief Bipin Rawat had earlier given information about this to an Associate newspaper, Times of India. Rawat had said that 17 corps would have two high level infantry divisions. Equipped with artillery, armored, air defense, engineer brigade, it will extend from Ladakh to Arunachal Pradesh. According to the Army Chief, '90,274 soldiers will be deployed for this. The process will be completed by 2021, which will cost Rs 64,678 crore.
