Donald Trump represents a thought process, don’t demonise him, says Indian Foreign Secretary

Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar on Tuesday spoke about his views about the backlash US President Donald Trump was facing the Muslim ban in the country. Speaking to reporters Jaishankar appealed to the public and the media to stop demonising Donald Trump. He further added that President Trump represented a thought process and his decision was not a momentary expression. He said that the Western countries might not be open about Pakistan and terrorism problems but they have their own concerns. He said that the main issue was if Pakistan was willing to take fundamental steps to curb terrorism.
He further targetted Pakistan and said that the neighbour needed to shut down their “terrorism factory” as it had become a matter of international concern now. He added that the thought process on Pakistan was mostly security based as the fact of the matter was that people could live in a situation of a little threat but not in a situation where the fear of terrorism was constant. Jaishankar said that the world was approaching a state of multi-polarity where everyone was playing everybody else. The Foreign Secretary further said that India had not given up on the SAARC but will be on the lookout for other opportunities as the SAARC was stuck.
Speaking of China, he said that the government needed to invest more to manage the deteriorating relationship in a better way. Speaking of opportunities for India, he said that the with the narrowing horizon of major developed countries there was a space in the world and it should be in India’s favour to take advantage of it. He was of the opinion that India should look at a better-powered position in the world.
