India today successfully tested the Brahmos supersonic cruise missile capable of carrying 300 kg of weapon. Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) officials said that the cruise missile was tested from a mobile launcher from Integrated Test Range at Chandipur in the morning at around 11.35 am. A senior Scientist of the DRDO associated with this project said, "It is excellent testing and a great success."
This missile is capable of carrying 300 kg of weapon. This missile is powered by the first stage solid and second in the Ramazet liquid propellant system. It has already been included in the Army and Navy, while its inclusion in the Air Force is in the final stages.
He said that the first cruise missile of the BrahMos cruise missile was incorporated with the INS Rajput in 2005 for the Indian Navy and now it is fully operational in the army's two regiments. Work on missile air projection and submarine launch version is underway. BrahMos is the most modern cruise missile ever developed by India and Russia.
