Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed people on the eve of Ugadi Milan in the National capital today. The Ugadi Milan celebration took place at the Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu’s residence. Ugadi is celebrated as the New Year’s Day Telugu and Kannada communities in India. In his address, he started by greeting the people and then went on to talk about the negativities of terrorism that is surrounding the human existence all over the world. He said, “Aaj poora vishwa aatankwad se pareshaan hai, aatankwaad ne maanavta ko lalkaara hai. (Today the whole world is the troubled because of terrorism, it has posed a great challenge to humanity.)”

Several ministers including LS speaker Sumitra Mahajan, MoS Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore were also present at the function.

He talked about the initiative that has been taken up by the Government of India- ‘Ek Bharat, Shrestha Bharat.’ He further said that ‘unity among people is very important if we wish to see India at the top.’ Under this initiative, PM Modi wants two Indian states to sign a MoU for the time period of one year and take that time period to understand each other’s state. This year, Haryana and Telangana have signed such a MoU, “because of this memorandum students in the state of Haryana will learn 100 sentences in  Telugu” and vice-versa in Telangana.

While talking about the cultural problem among people he said, “For many years India has been facing problems because of language and there were several allegations that the Hindi language is being imposed on the people in south India.” PM Modi then added and said, “people in India could be spared from any such problems only if we with a little awareness and special initiatives understand the beauty of the various Indian languages.”
